PRIVATE COMMISSIONS
YOUR MEMORIES. YOUR STORY. A COMPLETELY ORIGINAL WORK OF ART.

WHAT IS ASSEMBLAGE ART?
Saville & Brett Assemblage Art has evolved from carefully curated collections of vintage and found
objects into compositions that increasingly tell a story.
Today, a piece often begins with a single anchor object, memory or idea. Other elements are then
brought together around it - each adding another layer to the narrative while creating a balanced
and completely original work of art.
For a private commission, those objects and memories can come directly from the client: personal
memorabilia, photographs, souvenirs, treasured possessions or fragments of a life, career, journey or
passion.
The result is more than a collection of objects.
It is a personal story, preserved and retold through Assemblage Art.
EVERY COMMISSION BEGINS WITH AN IDEA - AND AN EMPTY FRAME.

Each Saville & Brett commission is developed individually — from the construction and preparation of the shadow box to the selection, positioning and final assembly of the objects that will tell its story.
The client brings the objects and the memories. Saville & Brett brings them together to tell the story.
FROM A COLLECTION OF OBJECTS TO A PERSONAL STORY

A private commission often begins with a collection of objects that have meaning to their owner - but no obvious relationship to one another.
The first stage is exploration. Objects are examined and, where necessary, carefully repaired or prepared. Different arrangements are developed and photographed, allowing ideas to be shared with the client as the composition begins to take shape.
Nothing is predetermined. Scale, balance, colour and the relationship between individual objects are explored until the collection begins to tell its own story.
The process is collaborative, but the finished composition remains an original work of Assemblage Art - bringing the client's objects and memories together through the artist's interpretation.

CONFIDENTIALITY IS PART OF THE PROCESS
The objects entrusted to Saville & Brett can represent a lifetime, a family, a career or a very personal history. That trust matters.
Every private commission is approached with discretion. Personal information and the identity of the client remain confidential unless permission has specifically been given to share them.
CREATING ART FOR A PLACE
A private commission does not always begin with one person's collection of memories. Sometimes it begins with a place and the atmosphere its owner wants to create.

When the new 9 et Demi Golf indoor golf club was being developed, the vision was to create more
than simply somewhere to hit golf balls. The goal was a comfortable, welcoming lounge with the
character and atmosphere of a private golf club - a place where people could play, meet, relax and
share their enthusiasm for the game.
Three original Saville & Brett golf Assemblages were created to become part of that environment.
The pieces bring together authentic golf memorabilia with personal memories. One incorporates material from the Presidents Cup, attended together by the artist and the owner of 9 et Demi. Others include memorabilia connected with St Andrews and the Masters, collected through the artist's own visits.
Each tells its own story, while together they bring history, personality and a genuine love of golf into the space.
A commission can preserve personal memories. It can also help give a place its identity.

WHAT STORY COULD YOUR OBJECTS TELL?
A commission might begin with a box of family memorabilia, memories of a career or business, a passion for sport or music, travel souvenirs, photographs, treasured possessions - or simply an idea for a particular space.
Every commission begins with a conversation. Concept, size, materials, presentation, timing and price are developed individually.
There is no standard formula because there is no standard story.
OWNERSHIP, COPYRIGHT & CONFIDENTIALITY
Full copyright of a commissioned piece of Assemblage Art completed with components supplied by the client remains with the client.
The artist, Mike Tott, may request permission to use images of the finished piece in Saville & Brett marketing. Any such use will respect the confidentiality and privacy of the client.
