50th Anniversary 1976 the Montreal Olympic Games

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the games of the XXI Olympiad, the dream of achieving the

impossible.

This latest piece of my 'Assemblage Art' celebrates the 50th anniversary this year of this incredible

event in our city of Montreal. July 1975 the world gathered in Montreal. Over 6000 athletes from 92

countries descended on our city, creating unforgettable moments and transforming it for ever. The

Olympic games left a deep impression and lasting influence on me personally, the Games bold visual

identity, innovative design and architectural achievements

To celebrate this 50th anniversary I created this piece with objects that I had saved and others

picked up at markets and antique stores.

Some of the items featured were mine, that I enjoyed at the time.

The ticket to Athletics sitting in the stadium on a sunny Wednesday afternoon, seeing the stadium

finished for the first time. Previously I had visited the site during construction as an Art Director with

a photographer to photograph for P&H cranes, their equipment being used to lift the huge cement

pieces into place.

Everyone in Montreal was so proud to wear Olympic pins, these were some of mine.

The car registration licence plate was from my car, back then we had to change the registration plate

on our car every year. In 1979 Quebec was one of the first places in Canada to introduce adding

stickers every year instead of changing the whole plate.

So many wonderful personal memories came flooding back during the creation of this particular

piece of 'Assemblage Art' just completed.
